最近では、ちょっとその名も通ってきた（？）長崎の名物「トルコライス」。
トルコライスとは何ぞやといったときに、よく言われるのが「大人のお子様ランチ」。1つの皿に、誰もが好きな豚カツ、スパゲティ、ピラフ、カレー、ハンバーグなどの洋食を盛り合わせてあるワンパクな料理である。
豚カツ、スパゲティ、ピラフが乗っている基本形みたいなものはあるが、内容は店ごとに違っていて、その発祥も実は定かでない。
しかも、「トルコ」という言葉が入っているけれど、たぶんそんなに「トルコ」という国には関係はない。基本形の一品である豚カツ、つまり豚肉は、ほとんどの国民がイスラム教徒というトルコでは「絶対食べません！！」というものだからだ。
ただ、子どもの頃（子どもといっても十代の頃）親と外食した際、親から「トルコライスのあるやん、よかやん食べんね」と言われ、「トルコライスって何なん？」と思いつつ、当時私の未知の国「トルコ」という響きにワクワクしたのを覚えている。
お子様ランチを頼むことがはばかられる年代になった大人が、ハイカロリーで炭水化物祭りの背徳感いっぱいの欲張りな洋食盛り合わせを頼むことができて、「トルコ」というワクワク増幅器の言葉に乗せられてさらに楽しめる一品になっているのだと思う。（トルコの皆さん、ごめんなさい！）
トルコライスを出すお店は、長崎県内長崎市を中心に多いのだけれど、最近では、東京・秋葉原に「長崎トルコライス食堂」という思い切った名前のお店が出店するなど全国進出を果たしている（！？）ので、ぜひ近くで出会われた際にはお楽しみください。
そして、長崎のお隣・佐賀県には「シシリアンライス」というご当地グルメがあります。こちらもまたご紹介させていただきます。

However, when I was a child (when I was a teenager), I ate out with my parents, and my parents recommended Turkish Rice. I wondered, “What is Turkish Rice?” I remember being excited with the sound of my unknown country “Turkey” at the time, along with the food.

Many restaurants serve Turkish Rice, mainly in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture. Furthermore, recently, “Nagasaki Turkish Rice Restaurant” has opened in Akihabara, Tokyo. Turkish Rice has expanded nationwide. Please try it when you come across Turkish Rice.
And next to Nagasaki, Saga Prefecture, there is a local gourmet called “Sicilian Rice.” I will also introduce this.
